About
Get on your electric bicycle - E-bike and join others in exploring the DC metropolitan area. We use our electric bicycles between 15-25 miles (sometimes longer) in DC, Virginia, and Maryland. We normally start from Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park, Fletcher's Cove, Haines Point, or another park in the District. We also e-bike outside the District on longer trails within an hour's drive from DC.

Easy going
This is an easy-going group and we are not training for the Olympics. We use our electric bicycles to bike around 12 mph and enjoy navigating the hillsides with our modern marvels of transport technology. The group is a great way to share your experience with an electric bicycle - E-bike.
Everyone is welcome, including riders on non-assisted bikes.
Plan 2-3 hours for each trip. You can stop at any time and return home. There is no requirement to finish the trip. We participate in the trips to have fun, to be outdoors, to get exercise, and to meet other wonderful people.
Normally, participants will wait at some points of interest to allow slower riders to catch up, although this cannot be guaranteed. On nice weather days, riders normally plan for lunch halfway through the trip. This is another great opportunity for riders to catch up with the group.
A great opportunity to learn more about E-bikes
Learn more about electric bicycles - E-bikes from those who actually use them daily or weekly. What is their experience? What to avoid when you are in the market for an(other) electric bicycle - E-bike? How to manage batteries? How to integrate your electric bicycle - E-bike with navigation systems? How to secure your electric bicycle - E-bike with locks and register it online? These are just some of the questions you may ask other members while we peddle with electric bicycles - E-bikes.
I have no Electric Bicycle - E-bike. Am I welcome to join this group?
Absolutely. Everyone is welcome, even if you do not ride an electric Bicycle - E-bike.
Weather and cancellation
There is never a bad biking day, there are only bad biking clothes. We plan to bike year-round, also in the winter (but within reason). With the right clothing and protective gear, this can be a great experience.
What you need to know
We always follow traffic rules and stop for stop signs. Safety and fun first.
We will use biking lanes (class I permissible) as much as possible, but will frequently ride on roads with other traffic. You need to feel comfortable doing this.
You join this Meetup group at your own risk, and you are solely responsible for your own safety.
You cannot sell merchandise or engage in any commercial activity during events and through our online platforms, including MeetUp and Facebook unless E-bike Lovers authorizes this. You cannot contact other members to solicit merchandise of any kind using any of our systems. If you do so, as some have done, your membership will be revoked.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38246294 New lunch stop: Pinewood Lake Park at 16 miles into the ride. Toilets are in the beginning, middle and end of the trail.
This trail is just over 26 miles and follows the less-traveled section of the Mount Vernon Trail. Please note that we will not visit Mount Vernon. You can visit this wonderful place after the e-bike ride.
We will stop at Jones Point's Light House, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Mount Vernon, and the Distillery. It is a day fully packed with e-biking adventures.
NOTE: You must be comfortable cycling in traffic on some parts of the route. Alternatively, you can cycle back from Mount Vernon on the Mount Vernon Trail.

About the Jones Point Lighthouse
The Jones Point Lighthouse is one of the last riverine lighthouses in the country and the only one still standing in the Chesapeake Bay area. Today it is the focal point of Jones Point Park and a clue to the area's history as a busy commercial center and naval base.

About the Woodrow Wilson Bridge
The Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge is a bascule bridge that spans the Potomac River between the independent city of Alexandria, Virginia, and Oxon Hill in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The bridge is named for the 28th President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924), a native of Staunton, Virginia. While he was President, Wilson reportedly spent an average of two hours a day riding in his automobile to relax or to "loosen his mind from the problems before him." President Wilson was an advocate of automobile and highway improvements in the United States. In 1916, he said, "My interest in good roads is...to bind communities together and open their intercourse so that it will flow with absolute freedom and facility".

About George Washington's Distillery
In 1799, George Washington's distillery produced nearly 11,000 gallons, making it one of the largest whiskey distilleries in America.
Today, a faithfully reconstructed working distillery produces small-batch spirits on-site and is open to visitors from April - October.

For the third year running, Ride for Your Life in Washington is joining forces with others across America to raise our voices on the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
The RideWithGPS route will be posted before the event.

Ride for Your Life 2024 is actually two events: An 8-mile slow ride from Wood Acres Elementary School in Bethesda and a separate one-mile walk from Freedom Plaza to the Lincoln Memorial that allows a broader range of people to attend. E-bike lovers will participate in the bike ride.
Together, at the Lincoln Memorial, we will send a clear message about roadway safety to our leaders as a new Congress and presidential administration takes shape.
Ride for Your Life is the only walk/ride in the nation’s capitol aimed specifically at reducing the RECORD numbers of people walking, biking, and driving being killed in vehicle traffic in America.
The ride will retrace the route that mother and U.S. diplomat Sarah Debbink Langenkamp took the day she died in 2022.
It will be one of more than 100 events across the country held in commemoration of World Day of Remembrance.
Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin, other members of Congress, and a range of elected and civil society leaders from across the country will be present. We hope you will be, too.

20.9 miles. The picnic break is at the Great Falls Overlook, 15.8 miles into the route. Bathrooms beginning, middle, and end.
Note: Wednesday Rides always meet at 10:30, and we bike at 10:45!
Join us for another Wednesday extravaganza! We will be e-biking from Avenel Local Park through Potomac Village and on to Great Falls and the C&O Towpath. The trail is around 21 miles and is in the plush and sometimes "over the top" residential area of Potomac Village, the location of "The Real Housewives of Potomac," a reality TV show.

We will meet at the gazebo near the playgrounds in the parking lot.
The area is known for its abundance of mansions, pedicured lawns, and relatively quiet residential roads connecting the enclaves of the rich and famous.
The majority of the trail follows asphalt on rustic roads. The trail takes us past the renowned Glenstone Museum, heads toward Great Falls, and follows the C&O Canal Towpath for the last 6 miles on gravel.

Please charge your batteries, as we will be biking in some hilly terrain. "Analog" unassisted bikes always welcome.
Bring snacks, lunch and plenty of water. Check weather and dress appropriately.
Our lunch break will be at approximately 16 miles at the Great Falls Overlook Beach, adjacent to the Overlook. No locks are required. If you visit the overlook, a gracious E-Bike Lover member will mind the bikes at the "beach."
The group stops a few times for slower riders to catch up. The distance will be 21 miles or shorter any time you are fully satisfied with biking for the day.
