What we’re about
Kia Ora and welcome!
The "4 Strings Sing" Auckland-based ukulele performing ensemble is a ukulele-centric music collective born out of Sonia's Auckland beginner & intermediate ukulele & singing lessons. After a few years of music sharing, we've decided it's time to play some shows and bring music out into the city more actively. We love to share music in various community settings: retirement communities, schools, hospitals, public places, churches, concert halls, corporate gigs, house concerts, etc...
The more, the merrier!
Please feel free to join us if you are an experienced ukulele player and/or singer and would like to take part in this mission of spreading joy through music, far and wide. We are an international, friendly and growing group. We're also on the lookout for percussionists and a (uke) bass player to add more spice and flavour to our group sound.
If you are a listener and would like to sign up to be informed of any concerts we play that are open to the public, please feel free to join this group as well, or you could follow us on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/4stringssing/
We rehearse weekly on Sundays from 9.30 to 10.45am at The Nix on Nixon street in Grey Lynn, thanks to the generous hospitality of the Ockham Collective. There is a fee of $25 per session to cover Sonia's costs and time spent arranging music, teaching parts, etc... Money earned by the group at paid performances will be used to cover expenses where relevant and to sponsor lessons or instruments (ukes) for students who cannot afford to pay for them but would like to be able to access some tuition anyway. We also aim to support collaborative music projects aimed at supporting charity, raising awareness around social issues, promoting diversity and accessibility in music, etc.
Payment of $25/person/class can be made in cash on the day or directly to the following account. Bulk purchase discounts are available as follows: $120 for 5 sessions ($5 discount) or $200 for ten sessions ($50 discount). The sessions bought in bulk do not need to be consecutive, but please keep track of your own attendance diligently as it would be complicated for me to do so instead. Thanks!
