BRISBANE HIKING DYKES

Welcome to our hiking group!!  This is a group for lesbians, bisexual women, trans women of all ages interested in meeting up for hiking and camping and anything outdoors. The primary focus of this group is to share in the enjoyment of bushwalking and the great outdoors with like-minded women.  So if you have a genuine love of bushwalking and getting out amongst nature, then this is the group for you.  The emphasis is on fun and friendship with women with the same interest in a non-threatening and comfortable environment.  People who do not meet the demographic may find other hiking groups better suit their needs.

We will be doing medium to long walks (5-20km) in and around Brisbane and nearby hinterland - mostly on trails rather than through the virgin scrub! There will also be the occasional city walks too. You will need a medium level of fitness and some very good walking shoes.  Hiking boots that have ankle supports for uneven terrain are also recommended.  The emphasis is on enjoyment of bushwalking and we do like to stop and 'smell the roses'.  It's not about who gets to the end first.  You can expect fun and friendship as well!! So if you have a genuine love of the great outdoors, this is the group for you.

PERSONAL RESPONSILIBITY PHILOSOPHY:
The Brisbane Hiking Dykes Meetup Group is not a registered  association or official club - it's really just a group of people enjoying bushwalking together. As such, we cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries that may happen at or occur as a result of our events. We also cannot provide any guidance on fitness levels required. I always try to include the description from the NPWS websites and from other sources but basically, it's up to individual members to decide whether they are physically able enough to undertake the walks. You undertake these activities at your own risk.

##Please Note:  To help cover the costs of running this Meet Up group, we are asking for a $5 per year, or $1  each time you attend a Meet Up.  The costs involved in hosting us on this site are $300 a year charged six monthly by the Meetup organisation. New members will be requested to pay on joining - you have one week to pay the $5 or you will be removed from the group.   Please pay your annual $5 on joining - you have one week to pay or you will be removed from the group.

##Please Note:  We cannot guarantee you a lift if you wish to car pool.  It will depend on how many want to take cars.  It is expected that if you are catching a lift with someone, that you offer them a contribution towards the running costs of their car.
