What we’re about
Humanistic Judaism is coming to the Gainesville area. The Humanistic Judaism movement combines attachment to Jewish identity and culture with a human-centered approach to life. It affirms that human beings are independent of supernatural authority and responsible for themselves. Humanistic Jews are committed to freedom, dignity, and self-esteem. At meetings, we discuss the philosophy of Humanistic Judaism, adapt Jewish traditions for those whose needs are not being fully met by other Jewish institutions, and identify opportunities to support social justice. Meetings provide opportunities to meet other atheist, agnostic, secular humanistic and questioning Jews and to exchange experiences as Jews with humanistic values.
