What we’re about
This Meetup is for people who enjoy walking for health and enjoyment of good company with a coffee and chat afterwards. This is not an age specific group, though you do need a fitness level. We welcome those visiting our area, holidaying and housesitters. Our levels of capability and fitness vary daily as well as the times we meet so that the needs of those still in the paid workforce, unemployed, retired and volunteers can attend. Starting times change with the seasons. Flat, shorter walks and walks where facilities and cafes are only open weekdays are mostly on Thursdays. Hills and longer walks are usually scheduled for Sundays to maintain higher fitness levels. Alternate Sunday Walkers also meet on Sundays at Noreuil Park at 10:00 am if the scheduled walk does not suit them. Please respond RSVP No, so that others can see who may be attending the alternate walk. Walks range from 1 - 3 hours of 5 to 10 kms. Note, that we are not a hiking overnight camping group (see https://borderbushwalkingclub.com.au/ for advanced adventures). Suggestions for extra walks or activities most welcome to suit the diversity of the group. A great way to meet new friends in a safe, active, supportive environment. Stroll or walk briskly. Mostly explore a variety of walking tracks not far from the CBD or in nearby country towns. Anyone not up to walking on the day can simply RSVP with a comment to meet at the end of the walk for coffee and a chat. The aim of the meetup is to keep active and connected. Please keep your RSVPs current - Yes/No/Comment - we only wait 5 minutes before starting the walk. A current clear, portrait photo is essential to stay on the site and use of the site for anything other than walking meetups is not welcome. Fees are collected at walks bi-annually in February and August to cover Meetup website online fees. Dogs are welcome motivators and enjoyable company. Always check whether the walk is NSW or VIC, National or State Parks, plus general knowledge on where farm stock sometimes graze and leads will be required.
