What we’re about
We are fun, local group of people who love the outdoors. You'll find us hiking, kayaking, and on skis or snowshoes. Hiking is a year-round activity for us, centered on the Carson Pass region in the summer, and nestling into the Sierra Foothills in the winter. Socializing is important to us, with potlucks, dinners, game nights, kayak, camping, backpacking and whitewater trips also posted. It's a great way to get to know everyone!
A few requirements for joining:
1. You assume ALL responsibility for your safety, health, hiking and skill abilities. The hosts are NOT professional guides but rather local people who love where they live, and enjoy showing others why they love it here.
By signing up for any event, YOU acknowledge and assume this responsibility. All hosts aim to make any event a safe and fun time. If you ever have a bad experience, please let me know so we can improve.
2. You MUST post a picture of your face on your profile. No cats, trees, dogs, views, etc. We need this for several reasons: You will be easy to find at the trailhead; if there is an event where we need to notify local authorities, having your photo is a huge help; and three, it lets us know you are not a bot.
3. You must live locally, or visit the area on a regular basis. If you are not in the foothills there are many other groups out there that you can join. We aim for high participation from our members.
Our hosts are requested to post at least two events per year. If you have the ability and desire to host events, please contact me so we can discuss it. The membership fee is waived for all hosts.
