What we’re about
Welcome to the AMC - Delaware Valley Chapter Meetup site. The AMC is the Northeast's oldest outdoors club and one of its most respected. The AMC is built on the pillars of conservation, outdoors education and in getting people outdoors. Our "About" page provides more information about the AMC and our Chapter. We ask that when you join you submit a photo and tell us a little about yourself. It's not mandatory that you provide this information but it's useful to many members who want to meet people with similar interests.
Our activity leaders are experienced outdoors people who volunteer their time and expertise. All leaders receive training in activity and risk management prior to leading Chapter activities. Safety is always our number one concern. We recognize that hiking and our other activities involve elements of risk that cannot be avoided. Participants must accept the risk and take responsibility for their own safety.
NOTE: Some activities may require that you also register on the club Activities Database electronic registration system. In that case, follow the trip leaders link to register.

See all- MORNING HIKE AT TYLER STATE PARKFisherman’s Parking Lot, Newtown, PA
Join us for a 5-mile moderate paced hike at picturesque Tyler State Park.
Meet at 7:45am Hike starts promptly at 8:00am
Meet at the fisherman's parking lot on Almshouse/Newtown-Richboro Road.
We will hike on wooded, meadow and some paved trails. We'll do about 300 ft total elevation. The trail does have sections that can be a bit wet, muddy, and uneven, Wooded trails can be rocky. This is a morning hike so if there is a lot of dew on the grass your feet will get wet. The trails we will be on today are Mill, Red Oak, Nature, Dairy Hill and Dairy Mill trail.
During the hike please don't be afraid to speak up if you need a break. This isn't a long hike, and we have plenty of time for breaks, but I'm known to just keep walking.
Bring sturdy footwear and water. Inclement weather may cancel hike. If doubtful, check the status of the hike on https://amcdv.org/activities/activities-calendar/ the day of the hike or contact the leader.

AMC Trip Policy - French Creek Sunday Morning 10 at 10 HikeFrench Creek State Park, Elverson, PA
Join us on the trails at French Creek State Park.
We are starting at 10 AM for the fall and winter months. We are doing around 10 miles, so expect a 9 to 11 miles long hike at a moderate pace. We can reach the farthest trails in French Creek at this distance. This hike is rated "vigorous” only because of the length. It is not geared to be a workout hike. We will take time to stop for breaks at the top of hills and as needed to keep the group together.
Expect less than 2000 feet total elevation gain the whole hike.
The starting location is at the French Creek State Park Playground. This is 800 feet southwest of the Hopewell Lake boat ramp parking area going towards the park office. The GPS coordinates for the playground are: 40.1983077435609,-75.79114511944678. Modern bathrooms at the start. We meet there at 9:00 AM and leave soon after. We normally finish up about 30 minutes before the stated end time.
Bring water plus a snack if desired. Wear cold weather gear as needed for the unprotected parking lot start and we will stop to de-layer once we start moving. I have only limited text and talking cell phone coverage in the park at the start.
I only cancel this hike due to adverse weather conditions which make it unsafe to drive or hike. Check Meetup comments. I’ll update the AMC database status too.
Well behaved dogs can come on this hike if they can keep up with the group. Owners of dogs not on leashes will be asked to leave the hike. Please post a Meetup comment in advance if you are planning to bring your pet.
On-line registration in the AMC system is not required for this hike; Please use Meetup. (Look for event listings from this page if you are not already in Meetup: https://4142298.xyz/Appalachian-Mountain-Club-Delaware-Valley-Chapter/ ). Update your RSVPs if your plans change. All participants will need to agree to and sign a paper AMC legal waiver sheet just prior to the hike.
