- 💚Green Exercise 5 or 8 miles 🥾Hike Mount Umunhum🏞️Mount Umunhum Summit Parking Area, San Jose, CA
Hello Natural Lovers, let's meet new friends and go on a Green Exercise Social Hike Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve enjoy beautiful wildflower displays fresh mountain air for our physical health and mental well-being😇
Mount Umunhum is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the South Bay located within the 18,000 acre Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve in Santa Clara County, is one of the highest peaks in the Santa Cruz mountain range at 3,486 feet. From its spectacular summit, visitors can experience 360-degree views from the Pacific to the Sierra Nevada! The gorgeous Mt. Umunhum Trail passes through dense mixed chaparral scrub dominated by shrub species including chamise, big berry manzanita, birch-leafed mountain mahogany, and poison oak (keep an eye out). It passes through Knobcone Pine Woodland and eventually enters the Coastal Woodlands habitat dominated by coast live oak, foothill pine, California bay, interspersed with Pacific madrone. The majority of the trail – approximately the upper 3.0 miles – is enjoyed under the cool canopy of these trees. Eventually, the trail emerges near the top onto steep terrain dominated by cliffs and rocky outcrops including serpentine boulders. Due to the thin soil layer developed on the serpentine bedrock, a low moisture-holding capacity, and a unique chemical composition, the serpentine areas support numerous endemic plant species, including rare flowering plants that continue to reveal themselves each spring.

Yours in good health! Dr. Heidi💝 - Let's go💚 Green Exercise 5 mile Hike 🥾Henry Coe State Park🏞️Visitor Center | Coe Ranch Entrance, Morgan Hill, CA
Hello Nature Lovers, let's meet new friends for a green exercise go on a Wellness Hike, enjoy the nature and the beauty of the healing mountains and trees for our physical health and mental well-being 😇
Henry W. Coe State Park is the largest state park in northern California and protects and preserves 87,000 acres of scenic hills and mountain ridges in the Diablo Mountain Range. This largely undeveloped park welcomes backpackers, day-hikers, and anyone seeking solitude in a nearly untouched setting.
China Hole is one of the most popular destinations at Henry Coe State Park...You'll also descend along the Madrone Soda Springs Trail and the Mile Trail, which passes the decaying remains of an era when the springs were a major tourist attraction.
Henry Coe State Park is all peaks, ridges and valleys, and its reputation for arduous treks is well deserved. Frog Lake Loop is the one shining exception. While the hike starts with a 400-foot ascent and continues with a knee-crunching 600-foot descent, the return leg is serene by Henry Coe standards. The midpoint is Frog Lake, a great place to watch for wildlife and listen for the trademark knock of the acorn woodpecker. Frog Lake Loop is bound to inspire users for further forays into the wilds of Henry Coe. Just bear in mind this is one of the easiest routes in the park. Best time to go: Springtime, when the wildflowers are in bloom, and October/November

Sometimes all you need is an easy stroll by the ocean to refresh your spirits. This track along the Pacific Ocean north of Santa Cruz is one of the best places in California to do just that.
You'll see gulls, geese, pelicans, and other waterfowl and you might hear the distant bark of passing sea lions. If your timing's right, you might even spot passing whales on their annual migrations.
Another bonus: touring the grounds of a farm replete with antique cars, farm machinery, and other remnants of farming life along the Pacific in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This track is very basic: just start out from the parking lot at the Wilder Ranch State Park visitors center and follow Old Cove Landing Trail along the ocean. Eventually, it turns northward again and loops back to where you started.
Best time to go: Views of the ocean are more clear in winter and spring; in summer the coast tends to get fogged in. The park is very popular on weekends; a weekday visit will be much more pleasant. December through April is also peak whale migration season.
The trail surface is a natural surface (dirt, sand, rocks). It is typically at least 8 feet wide. There are railroad crossings at about 0.1 and 2.1 miles when going clockwise.
