Join us for a battle of wits, a clash of kings, and a war of pawns !!! The Bayonne Chess Society & Social Club is where strategy meets sass, and tactics meet trolling. We're not just a club, we're a chess-fueled party. Who will be the next Queen for our very own Queen's Gambit? Who will be the next King? Chess is booming online, and around the world. Come for the games, stay for the laughs. And, who knows, you might even learn something. (But, no promises.) We do know chess is known to be beneficial in helping improve memory, focus, and concentration. It also aids in creativity, abstract thinking, and self awareness. It's also been found to protect against Dementia, and it can help with ADHD. It's also part of the curriculum in many Russian schools. Doesn't take a genius to figure out why.
I created the group mid-November. We are currently at over 250 ADULT MEMBERS...and growing at an insane rate with almost 20 new members a week. I have no idea how many children we have. Most of the group is in the parent group on Facebook. So, if you want to see where all the people are...you can join there as well. They will all tell you they have a fantastic time sharing their love of chess. Just answer the simple questions and agree to the group rules, and you'll be accepted. We have declined many people, because for some reason they have issues with answering simple questions and agreeing to rules. We want members.. NOT JOINERS. Yet, we're growing at an insane rate.
We also have started getting players joining from outside areas. We have Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark, Oldbridge, and Paramus as members. Word gets around.
So, don't miss out on the fun, friends and friendly competition. Remember, it's free to play chess, but the venues aren't. Patronize them !!! You can chill and play chess for a few hours ..it's the least you can do.

Just coming off a spur of the moments Chess Event at Joe's Pizza on 41st and Broadway. I didn't have anything scheduled. People started asking...NAGGING...(jk), about whether we were playing tonight. So, I said, "I think we can set up something with Joe's real quick". They said, "Sure, not a problem". I had spoken to them about the possibility of us playing there, back in December. They were excited when I mentioned it was involving chess. They took flyers for their family members and relatives. So, when I called...I knew it wouldn't be a problem.
We went, ate and then spent 4 hours playing chess. Even though we could have stayed longer, we ended it early. Next week, they'll have a way bigger crowd, because now it's actually scheduled. They asked when we'd be back. I said, "We can be back every Friday, if you guys want". They said, "Yup, just let us know whatever you need". So, now our spot is Joe's Pizzeria on Friday nights. It's going to be nice to go to a place where we can play chess until 2 in the morning. I believe that's their closing time. All skill levels are welcome. From new to Master. Kids are welcome too.
