What we’re about
Stoicism is a practical philosophy of life that leads us on a path toward eudaemonia (a flourishing and tranquil life) by living in accordance with nature. For Stoics this means utilizing our unique gift of rationality and sociability. Unlike other animals we are capable of logic and reasoning. By practicing Stoicism, we train ourselves to use these tools to strengthen our character while cultivating positive emotions and reducing negative emotions.
The Blue Ridge Stoics hosts periodic in-person meetups in the Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia to discuss the theory and practice of Stoic philosophy.
The Blue Ridge Stoics is a member of the global Stoic Fellowship and follows all rules and bylaws of the Stoic Fellowship. For our meetups this means there is no room for any type of discrimination, harmful or threatening speech. All meetups will be in handicapped accessible locations.
