💥 Meet Our Speaker 💥

Jen Scorey-Vogt has been in the tech industry for 20 years. She spent 10 years in the U.S. Army, which includes a deployment to Iraq. Watching how the military handled projects, she found herself looking for basic organisation.

After leaving the Army, Jen spent time working across Manhattan, helping clients with numerous technical issues and revamping their technical posture. It was through this work Jen gained a deep interest in how to use cybersecurity to secure a company’s data, protects its users, and ensure encryption of client’s communications. She then migrated to Australia in 2014.

From there, she worked in many small businesses. One experience was working as a telco project manager. She saw in this position how Agile could organise all areas of tech and stop the ‘shiny object’ effect. She then returned to her previous client in NY and worked remotely as their Director of IT and Security.

Late last year, Jen accepted an offer to start up a SOC in Australia for Paramount Global. This year she has stood up the Australian SOC and assisted her fellow colleagues in implementing a 24/7, follow the sun model SOC.

Jen has a B.A. and M.A. in English literature and a Masters in Library and Informational Science. She also holds industry standard certificates.

💥 What to Expect 💥

Project Management in cybersecurity? It seems counterintuitive that an industry with a massive choice in applications needs something to help manage tasks. Yet, these apps are solely for analysing data and recommending ways to handle alerts. How do we handle everything that a SOC, or InfoSec team, does on a daily basis? We are speaking about implementing and tuning applications, writing knowledge bases to assist with alerts, creating playbooks with runbooks, and reporting on metrics (just to name a few). It is these scenarios in which Agile comes to the rescue within internal and external InfoSec teams.

What to expect:

💥 Understanding common Agile frameworks in cybersecurity
💥 How Agile benefits the entire Infosec team
💥 Streamlining business tasks
💥 Show how it can prevent different business units from becoming SILOs
