What we’re about
“The basis of human happiness is the possibility to be together with nature, to see it and to talk to it.” ~ Leo Tolstoy Or if you prefer Willie Sutton's Law, "Because that's where the money is!"
Welcome! This is a group for all artists from beginners to experienced who want to create art outdoors - any style, technique and medium. We are a friendly and supportive group that brings artists together by painting around the Bay area and sometimes beyond. Meetings are organized semi-monthly on weekends. Suggestions for sites are welcome. After a paint out event, we follow up with an optional lunch. We encourage artists to share their experiences and post photos of their work to our Meetup site. The low membership fee covers the cost of website and occasional costs for exhibitions and promotions for the group.
Unsolicited advertising is not welcome, and will be removed from the group's site.
Burlingame Plein Air Painters’ Group Statement (for shows)
Burlingame Plein Air Painters (BPAP) is a group of artists dedicated to the historic tradition of painting directly from life outdoors. Through this approach of firsthand observation, our members strive to express their unique visual and emotional response to the timeless beauty in the natural landscape of the Bay Area.
BPAP creates plein air painting opportunities on an ongoing semi-monthly basis. Burlingame PAP has established a forum for artists of all levels to support each other and to share ideas and knowledge of their plein air painting experiences. BPAP promotes a visual appreciation of our environment through the value of painting en plein air, by sharing with the public our combined knowledge and experience, and through public demonstrations and exhibitions of the highest caliber.
