What we’re about

Hi, Stories behind the Art Group meets once a month on a Sunday morning at 10:30am at the National Gallery of Australia. NOTE: To join this group you will need to pay an annual membership fee of $4, payable either to the organiser at a meeting or direct to the organiser's account; for details contact the organiser. This group is open to anyone with an interest in Art and the stories / people behind the Art. This is a very casual group and it is not necessary to attend or present if you don't want to or unable to do so. It works like this - Participants attend the NGA and choose a work of art at the Gallery that interests them, they then go away for the month and research the piece, returning the next month to share what they have found about that work. The presentation is a short few minutes discussing the work, the artist, the time in which the piece was created, anything the presenter finds interesting. The members currently present in various ways and it's always a surprise to see what others have found. We finish with a coffee or lunch and find the next piece for the next month. You don't have to be an Art historian or have tertiary qualifications, this is about normal people sharing information. If you are interested, come along and see how it works. We would love to see you.
