FEAST of the SENSES: a BIPOC gig night

Details

Saturday, November 30th, 2024, Blank Creative Co (15 Moore St). Get tickets now for a laid-back and inspiring night with COAR's Feast of the Senses! We’re bringing together an incredible lineup of QUEER BIPOC artists and allies for a celebration of performance, art and good vibes. This isn’t just about our artists though—it’s about curating anti-racist spaces, celebrating our community and connecting with each other!

Artist 1 - Tagba: Tagba (pronounced Tah-ba) is a Nigerian-Australian up-and-coming artist from Australia’s capital city, Canberra. From a young age Tagba has had an immense passion for music and singing. She even started humming lullabies as a baby before she spoke her first words! Tagba’s music is a form of self-expression, her indie pop sound following the journey of songwriting and occasional genre mixing wherever it takes her.

Artist 2 - Hangama: Hangama came to Australia as a refugee from Afghanistan. She completed her education in Australia and has since become a well-regarded artist, writer, and community advocate. Her artistic practice spans painting, drawing, photography, and writing, deeply influenced by Afghanistan heritage, culture, and history. Hangama has exhibited her work in Canberra, other Australian cities, and internationally. She is an active leader and advocate for migrant women and refugees, through her own projects. She has also worked as a consultant, arts facilitator, and tutor for organisations such as Woden Community Service, Tuggeranong Arts, Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services, Multicultural HUB, and Companies House, in addition to managing her own studio at Gorman Arts Centre. Through her community work, Hangama uses art and creativity to inspire confidence, particularly among women and girls. Her philosophy centers on beauty, grace, and service to the community. Her accomplishments have been recognised both locally and internationally, and she is currently participating in the IETM (International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts) Global Connectors program.

Artist 3 - MadB: It's the OG Non Binary Deity who was living it before they even knew it was a thing, Mama MadB. They were born out of hate to bring Luvvv to your worlds.
