Join us on our monthly walks, and feel the power of the Earth.
This month we walk the beautiful majesty of Quail Hollow Ranch in Felton
Saturday, December 14th, gather at 10:45am
The local classic, Quail Hollow offers a host of biomes in one (mostly) flat hike!
Nestled deep in the Santa Cruz Mountains is this 300-acre historic horse ranch and nature preserve, home to 15 habitats and 4.5 miles of hiking and equestrian trails. In the center of this tear-drop shaped valley one will find the ranch complex consisting of the visitor center with natural and cultural history displays housed in a historic ranch house, picnic areas, horse barns, lawn area, orchard, and parking lot, with basic amenities including bathrooms and drinking fountain.
This is a low-impact hike, usually about 2 - 3ish miles round trip with a stop for meditation, snacks, and the sharing of stories and experiences.
Directions
From Highway 17, take the Scotts Valley/Mount Hermon Rd exit. Continue on Mt. Hermon Road for 3.8 miles. Turn left onto Graham Hill Road and go past the shopping center. Turn left onto East Zayante Rd. Take East Zayante Road about 1.9 miles to Quail Hollow Road. Turn left onto Quail Hollow Road and proceed about 1.1 miles to the entrance of Quail Hollow Ranch, which will be on your right. You can also use Graham Hill Road from Santa Cruz, or Highway 9 and Glen Arbor from SLV.
Bring water and a snack to share. Masks are encouraged, but not mandatory.
We walk in silence on the way in - doing so brings Nature so much closer to us, as we take in not only the sights, but the sounds and even smells of a nice country walk.
At a turnaround spot we will rest and share food. (Yes, we can do that again!)
Then we gab like magpies all the way back. It's always a great time.
Check ahead to make sure the walk is happening! Poor weather and, frankly, past attendance may cancel a walk. [email protected] or leave us a voicemail at (831) 469-0336
Please join us, and if you have any semi-secluded spots you'd like us to explore (nothing too strenuous), please let us know!
