Conscious Blacks in the DMV seeks to address the issues faced in the African-American community by promoting positive change through measures such as honoring cultural history, raising self awareness, personal development, and social justice advocacy. This group is for those (inclusive of all backgrounds) who share these ideals and want to have fun while meeting new people.

Greetings,
Howard University will be hosting their Second Annual Hip Hop Studies Conference this weekend (Reception Mixer Friday at Eaton DC 9:00pm to 11:00pm), in collaboration with the Chadwick Boseman College of Fine Arts, the Department of Philosophy, and The Department of African American Studies--to highlight the impact of culture and music as a vehicle for positive, peaceful, genuinely unifying social change and advocacy. This conference will include panels, speakers, workshops, and open discussions with scholars, creatives, and activists. On Saturday November 16th, 2024 approximately 2:00pm to 5:00pm there will be a screening/discussion of "In the Hour of Caos: Hip Hop Art & Activism" facilitated by Chuck D of Public Enemy. Feel free to see link for full weekend agenda to include check-in times, breakfast, (events range from Friday November 15th, 2024 between 4:00pm to 11:00pm, Saturday 9:00am to 10:00pm, and Sunday 9:00am to 4:00pm).

Join us for Adobe Premiere Pro 101 as we review the basic interface and functions of this powerful video editing platform. This educational event is ideal for persons just getting started in video editing, wanting a refresher on video editing, and/or wanting to meet others to work on projects. There will be an hour of instruction and an hour of networking, Q&A, informal discussion with fellow members of the creative community. This event is produced in partnership with Television, Internet, and Video Association of DC (TIVA).
Admission is just $10 (plus fees). Tickets are required.
