Details

Detroit & Ann Arbor Ecstatic Dance's 6th Anniversary!

Although this Dance is at a church, this event is not religious. However, some find it very moving, spiritual or cathartic. It will be held inside the beautiful original sanctuary of the non-denominational Northwest Unitarian Universalist Church, in Southfield, MI.

Dance in the splendor of the original sanctuary amidst stained glass windows, coved ceilings for great acoustics, and lots of space in one of our biggest venues yet!

PLEASE ARRIVE ON TIME.

⭐️ Doors open at 7:00 pm and will be closed, with no latecomers permitted after 7:30 PM . ⭐️

🦋🌈♥️Conscious Clubbing in the Metro Detroit and surrounding areas! We provide a Night Club-like space with an opening and closing circle to create a Consent based, Substance, Alcohol and Judgement free community to Dance it out, move freely, and let the music be your intoxicant. This is a space to learn to be true to yourself and your needs. If you want to be still and meditate, do yoga, dance, be a curious observer and take it all in, or anything else… most anything is possible at our events, with consent.

🌻 Admission: $25-$40 sliding scale for financial inclusivity. $5 discount if admission is paid in cash, exact change.

Movement & Safety Parameters:
•Move as you wish - There is no right or wrong way to move in ecstatic dance. You can also choose to not move at all. Listen to your body, and let it do what it needs.
•No vices/devices- Leave your phones and other devices off and off the floor. You are taking the time to show up for yourself by attending, be as present as you possibly can be for yourself.
•Do not come intoxicated. Let the music intoxicate you instead. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted. This includes vaping and marijuana. This allows for a safe and consent based atmosphere.
•Non-conversational during dance - The only expression on the dance floor is physical. If you must talk to someone, take it out into the lobby. This allows the dancers to be fully into the music and their own movements. Singing and expressing feelings during music is welcome.
•Consent based - If you would like to dance with someone, make eye contact and give clear indication. If you do not want to dance with someone, or if you are ready to end dancing with partners, bow out by using Namaste hands. 🙏
•No Photos or videos during dance unless facilitator gains informed consent from the group.
• Please refrain from heavy perfumes or scents, as we will be in close proximity to one another and some people have severe allergies. The scent of Marijuana can especially be triggering.
