What we’re about
The Diamond Way Buddhism (Sanskrit: Vajrayana) offers the modern world "Effective methods that lead to a direct experience of mind," as explained by Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche, one of the most experienced teachers of Tibetan Buddhism. One learns to experience the world from a rich and self-liberating viewpoint.
Diamond Way meditations develop a deep inner richness and lead to a non-artificial and unwavering mind where every enlightened activity can unfold. Buddha taught the Diamond Way. Here, Buddha manifested as forms of energy and light or directly transmitted his enlightened view as a flow of awareness.
We are one of about 700 lay Diamond Way Buddhist Centers and Groups of the Karma Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism around the world.
Mission: The center provides a relaxed environment where people are welcome to investigate authentic Buddhist teachings and meditations. We present a basic introduction for newcomers, and the meditations are guided in English. Free of charge and open to the public. Questions are encouraged. Our centers consist of people and families living together, working full-time jobs, and incorporating Diamond Way teachings and meditations into their daily lives. Lay practitioners volunteer for all the tasks associated with the running of the center, which is held together by idealism and friendship.
Description: Diamond Way Buddhist Group of Albany, NY offers public meditation every Tuesday at 7:30 pm starting again on December 13th. Walk-ins are welcome.
Our centers function under the spiritual authority of H.H. the 17th Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje, and under the direction of Lama Ole Nydahl. Lama Ole with his wife Hannah have been integral forces in adapting the timeless wisdom of Diamond Way Buddhism to Western society via the request of their teacher 16h Karmapa, His Holiness Rangjung Rigpei Dorje. The first consciously reincarnating yogi of Tibet.
