What we’re about
Do you want to play more board games and meet some awesome people?
Meet nearby Board Game Players! Board Games are making a comeback! Come to the Diablo Valley Boardgames Meetup to enjoy spending time from a full range of games from lighthearted Telephone Pictionary to intense mind burners like Neuland to traditional war gaming. This group is primarily to draw attention to organized events at game stores in which the many dozens of Risk-Like Games are also featured. Risk was originally published in 1957, but currently published by Hasbro. It is not just a game, but a way of playing. A perfectly balanced mix of strategy and luck that generated hundreds of titles around the world. Some are official versions of the original one, others are a development of the basic concept. While this group features Risk Like, it is dedicated to promote the knowledge of all board games and to gather their fans.

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Sunday Euro Game at Round TableRound Table Pizza, Concord, CA
Masks are not required and are personal preference.
We meet at 11:30am to have lunch and usually start games around Noon.
This event has a focus on Euro games which is about 80% of what we play. These types of games can include medium to heavy weight games. Some examples are: Settlers of Catan, Scythe, Tapestry, Castles of Burgundy, Concordia, Great Western Trail, Flamecraft, Brass: Birmingham, Caverna, Istanbul, Space Base, Clank!, Luxor, and Carcassonne.
The other 20% of games we focus on are light weight games as either fillers when other groups are just about to finish a game, so we can split into new groups or as a way to start or finish out the game day. Some examples of these games are: Cat Lady, Fuji Flush, Hanabi, Fantasy Realms, and Sequence.
We typically do not play adult card games such as Cards Against Humanity and Adult Loaded Questions. We also don’t play many hasbro games such as Monoploy, life and sorry.
Here are some general game rule etiquette we try to follow:
- Please be courteous to any game you borrow. Please do not bend cards or ruin components of a game that you choose to borrow.
- If you join a longer game please ensure you have the time to commit to seeing it through to completion as leaving the game early impact other players unfairly. If, while someone is explaining the rules, you change your mind and find it might be a game you are not interested in that can be accommodated.
There are attendees who do not have meetup who show up to these events. In general we have some where from 5 to 8 people who show up outside of meetup.
Here are the games I own: https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/Geek%20Modern
I usually bring a small selection of them. Please let me know if there is one that you would like me to bring and I can!
This is a 18 and over event, thank you.
