Peckham's Spanish/English Language Interchange - every Thursday @ Cornerhouse

¡Bienvenidos! Welcome!

Come and join us at ‘Etc Etcétera’ this week, our brand new Spanish/English language and culture exchange based here in Peckham at Cornerhouse, Rye Lane. Our first event will be this Thursday 21st November, starting at 7pm onwards.

This will be a pretty relaxed, free-flowing intercambio - absolutely no pressure, so just take things at your own pace and get chatting to the person nearest to you. A basic grasp of your second language would of course be a useful starting point (however rusty you may be feeling)!

We will be there, smiling, sharing stories and ideas over a few drinks, collecting some new friends, and making plenty of grammatical errors along the way.

When you arrive, just walk past the bar (The Porch) as you enter Cornerhouse and towards Nativo Latin Kitchen - they'll point you towards where we're set up for the evening, if you haven't found us already. If you get lost, or are feeling a bit nervous, ask for Matt! I'll be very happy to come and get you integrated, and speak some bad Spanish or half-decent English at you.

Absolute everybody is welcome – this is an open, LGBTQIA+ safe, and inclusive space. Come alone, or bring some friends – you’ll always be welcomed with open arms and a smile.

Our goals at Etc Etcétera:

1. Build new connections across the thriving Latin American and Spanish-speaking community here in South East London
2. Make progress with our language abilities (whether you’re working on your Spanish or looking to perfect your English)
3. Make new friends and build up a network of like-minded people interested in Latin and Spanish culture, right here in Peckham
4. Support local businesses in the surrounding area

Food and drink:

The Porch, the bar at the front of Cornerhouse, serves cocktails and beers (https://www.instagram.com/ryelanecornerhouse), while Nativo Latin Kitchen serve soft drinks and fantastic latin-asian fusion cuisine all evening (https://www.instagram.com/nativolondon/). There is plenty going on in Peckham afterwards for anybody that wants to keep the night going with new friends.

Transport / getting here:

Multiple train and bus routes arrive and depart just across the road from Cornerhouse at Peckham Rye station until late!
