Torquay 'Bay of Lights' Christmas Market & festive evening walk
Details
Get in the festive spirit with a visit to Torre Abbey's first ever Christmas Market and a walk along Torquay seafront's hugely popular 'Bay of Lights' illumination trail. Now in its third consecutive year, this trail has already become a huge hit with visitors, boasting 18 impressive installations that combine to form an enchanting path along the town's iconic waterfront.
New to the 1.5 mile accessible trail in 2024 are an LED light fountain, 1,000 colour changing hand placed flowers, pixel pads and a giant walk-through Christmas present! There will also be a spectacular 'Alive With Light' display projected onto Torre Abbey and live Christmas music along the trail route. Plus, it's all for free! Find out more details below;

We'll aim to meet at Torquay station (see below for train times to and from Exeter St Davids) before making the short walk across Abbey Park to the market, which we can savour for an hour or so. Once finished, we'll follow the trail along the seafront to Beacon Quay harbour, where we can look for somewhere to eat or simply enjoy the atmosphere. We can then make our way back to the station at a leisurely pace, where there are regular services running back towards Exeter throughout the evening.
It goes without saying, make sure to wrap up warm - this is the English Riviera in mid-December, not mid-July so best come prepared for all weathers! Furry friends are welcome, just be aware that we will be walking close to the water's edge at times. Nothing else to add other than bring your festive spirit and look forward to an interesting evening on the Bay!
