The area is composed of 1,625 acres of open land for public use, including hiking, biking, and birding. Most of this WMA is reclaimed bog area with dog-friendly walking paths, many species of waterfowl & hunting (except on Sundays).

We will be parking in the Halifax parking lot which is located on Elm Street. A GPS PIN has been provided for where to park. This parking area is off of Elm Street, down a dirt road with parking for 10-15 cars. The hike will be about 4 miles, taking about 2.5 hours, on relatively even terrain. For anyone interested in birding, you should bring binoculars. Sandhill Cranes are often seen at Burrage Pond. Per usual, water, snacks and good hiking shoes are advised.
