Magick in Focus 2 - Introducing...the Golden Dawn

Details

Hi everyone!

I am happy to introduce the second of the discussions called "Magick in Focus". The new format will represent an intensive dive into a specific occult / esoteric subject. In this format, there will usually be at least one presenter who will give the introduction to the topic and its various aspects - including practices, theory, and history as relevant. The first subject of this new format is: "Introducing...the Golden Dawn".

Introduction to the topic - The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn stands as the foundation for much of the current practice of western occultism. Founded in 1887 and surviving until 1903, this occult order brought forth a complete magical system that ended up defining the standard for many different magical systems that exist today in western occult practice. Aside from it's magical system, the Golden Dawn was the starting point for many famous names, both inside and outside of the occult world, including Aleister Crowley and William Butler Yeates. Given this group's towering presence in the world of western occultism, it definitely represents an amazing entry point into many different facets of occult practice.

Our session, in particular, will focus more so on the magical system of the Golden Dawn and what it represents. In its purest form, the Golden Dawn system of magic is its own form of cosmology that contains many different branches of occult practices including, but not limited to - elemental magic, divination, Kabbalah, hermeticism, astrology, numerology, Enochian magic, and much much more. Of course, we won't be able to cover everything in such a comprehensive system of magic, but we will definitely get a good feel for the significance of this group within occult history and practice.

With this new format, our agenda is as follows:

  1. Introductions + Catchup (20 minutes)
  2. Preamble and Introduction to the topic (25-30 minutes)
  3. Questions and discussion on the topic (45-50 minutes)
  4. Closing and goodbyes (20 minutes)

For those who wish to stay for after discussion drinks, they are more than welcome! I am looking forward to welcoming you all there. As usual, if there are any questions, please contact me by WhatsApp - +41798309119.
