The Weekenders - Three Peaks in Pisgah VS

"The Weekenders" is a GNHA group that hikes on Saturdays or Sundays. Although hike distance, elevation gain and pace may vary, hikes will conform to the GNHA Hike Rating System for VS or VVS hikes. See the Hike Rating System: https://www.greenvillehiking.com/hike-rating-system .
Hike details - We'll meet at the Pisgah Ranger Station at 8.15 (departing by 8.30) to form carpools before driving up to the Sam's Knob parking lot. We'll hike to both peaks of Sam's Knob. From there we'll head down and cross Flat Laurel Creek. Then we'll connect to Little Sam's trail and head over to Devil's Courthouse crossing one of the prettiest streams in Pisgah on our way. Devil's Courthouse is especially nice now since the Parkway in that area is closed currently. From there, the MST leads us back to Black Balsam which we'll climb using the Art Loeb trail. A spur trail takes us back to our cars. We should have some time for refreshing beverages in Brevard after returning to cars at the Ranger Station.

Elevation gain: 1800 feet
Pace: Moderate 2.5
