What we’re about
Meet highly motivated Cloud enthusiasts across the Greater Philadelphia Area and share Amazon Web Services knowledge. The Greater Philadelphia AWS Users Group (GPAWSUG) meets once every month to discuss the latest capabilities introduced in Amazon Web Services as well as present business cases and real-world examples to the members of the group with the goal to enhance everyone’s adoption of this transformative technology.
The Meetup agenda typically consists of a one hour presentation followed up by open-ended, round table discussions where user group members share their experiences applying AWS capabilities in real-world scenarios. After the presentations and discussions there is usually a happy hour to socialize and interact with group members and speakers.
User group members are encouraged to submit any topic ideas related to AWS along with an abstract to the group organizers. The GPAWSUG is intended to be a collaborative community of AWS end-users sharing knowledge and real-world experiences. We try to avoid sales pitches and presentations around deeply vendor-integrated solutions, unless the group deems the topic valuable from a conceptual standpoint.
Sessions range from introductory to advanced. Everyone is welcome to join this Meetup group.
The GPAWSUG is not intended for use as a marketing or recruiting channel. Vendors of closed-source products may discuss technical or business problems their products solve, but product demos are not permitted. Because AWS is itself a commercial Amazon platform, we will occasionally invite AWS experts employed by Amazon to deliver detailed presentations about AWS products. Developers of open-source AWS-related products will be welcome to present those products and demo away.

See all- GraphRAG: How to improve RAG-based LLM Applications with Amazon Neptune224 Valley Creek Blvd suite 150, Exton, PA
Description: The integration of large language models (LLMs) into data-intensive applications has revolutionized natural language processing, enabling more sophisticated and context-aware functionality. Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) has emerged as a powerful technique to enhance LLMs by providing them with relevant, more recent knowledge that might not have been included in the original training set. However, these basic retrieval methods often rely on unstructured or loosely structured data sources, which can limit the depth and relevance of the information supplied to the model.
This talk introduces GraphRAG, a novel approach that leverages graph databases like Amazon Neptune to improve the retrieval component of RAG-based LLM applications. By using the structure inherent in a graph, we can capture complex relationships and entities more effectively than traditional RAG solutions, providing richer context and more precise information retrieval to improve the performance of LLM-based applications.
Attendees will gain practical knowledge on integrating Amazon Neptune with LLMs—including code samples for data modeling, query optimization, and real-time retrieval—and review examples quantifying these performance improvements. By the end of the session, they will be equipped with the tools and best practices needed to implement GraphRAG in production environments, helping them develop insightful AI-driven solutions in their own projects.
