What we’re about
Meet other local people who speak and are interested in practicing modern Greek, discuss the current and on-going economic crises, argue over the resiliency - and superiority - of Greek culture and the modern Greek state, or any other phil-Hellenic interest.
Enjoy some olives, cheese, krasi and pita bread, washed down with 3,000 years of unmatched history (or ouzo if you're into cliches)!

We kicked off year number twenty-one with a great MeetUp at The Parthenon last week. For our next get together, we’ll head back to Maryland and MeetUp at Gyroland in Rockville to toast OXI Day on October 26th at 7:30 pm.
Here are some other great Hellenic events to note:
- On October 14th, AHEPA Chapter 31 holds its annual Dinner Dance, at 7 p.m. at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church with live music by the Golden Flame band. Tickets are $75 per person - and includes dinner, wine and dessert - and can be purchased at DCGreeks.com.
- The Greek Chamber Music Project (GCMP) presents Uproot, a powerful program of Greek songs from Asia Minor, on Friday, October 20th, at 7:30 pm, in Tawes Hall, Ulrich Recital Hall, on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park. Uproot weaves histories and personal stories throughout, generating a universal dialogue about the impact of forced migration and building a bridge to the experience of modern-day refugees. You can reserve your spot here. GCMP features MeetUp alum Ellie Ganelin.
- Our friends at Prometheas to Musical Bridges Between Traditional and Contemporary Improvisation, on Sunday, November 12, 2023, 5:00 pm EST, at the Grand Hall of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. A unique musical experience featuring Vasilis Kostas, 2023 Grammy Nominated artist, and Manos Achalinotopoulos, world-renowned clarinetist, accompanied by the highly acclaimed Anatoliama Ensemble. The performance will start at 5:00 pm, followed by dinner at 6:30. Tickets ($75/person; students up to 25 years of age $40) reserved table seating are now available online at DCGreeks.com.
