What we’re about
At Muziekacademie Amsterdam we offer unique group courses for different beginner levels. Our level 1 course is specifically designed for absolute beginners and we start a new level 1 course about every one to two months.
If you can already play a little and know the basics we always have courses running on different levels that you can join mid course. In that case we will evaluate your level and then decide which group suits you best. You can then try out one lesson for free and afterwards decide if you would like to sign up.
Our courses are not only a great way to learn the basics of playing the guitar, but also a fantastic chance to meeting new people while having fun playing music together. Twice a year you will also get the chance to perform with your group and in one of our adult student concerts at the legendary Amsterdam bar 'Societeit De Kring' on Leidseplein.

Amount of lessons: 38 per school year
Lesson duration: 1 hour
One time registration fee: €35.00 (incl 21% btw)
Price per month: €79.00 (incl 21% btw)
Location: Muziekacademie Amsterdam, Schaepmanstraat 228, 1051JJ Amsterdam
Groups size: The classes consist of a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 students.
What you need: All you need is functioning guitar. If you do not own a guitar yet we will be happy to advise you on which kind of guitar to buy!
What you learn: You will learn all the basic chords, basic strumming/fingerpicking patterns, how to play along with some simple songs and most importantly some methods on how to practice yourself in the most efficient manner at home.

Concerts : We organize 2 students concerts per year followed by a party with live music, where all groups get to perform and you have the chance to meet other students. Usually one around November and the other in spring. The location for the concerts is “Societeit de Kring” on Leidseplein and these events are always great fun fro students as well as teachers.
Who teaches the classes? - All our teachers are highly professional musicians and music educators with many years of experience. Every teacher at Gitaaracademie L. A. Mayer holds a masters degree from world renowned music conservatoires.

How it works:
- Enrollment Period: Enrollment is for one academic year, from December 5th, 2024, to July 13, 2025.
- Minimin enrollment of 3 month
- Termination Policy: The agreement may be terminated during the academic year with a one-month notice. If you sign off before the 15th of the month, only 50% of the fee for the subsequent month will be charged. If you sign off after the 15th of the month, the full fee for the subsequent month will be charged.
- Registration Fee: A one-time registration fee of €35.00 (including 21% VAT) is required upon enrollment.
- Monthly Tuition: Monthly tuition is €79.00 (including 21% VAT) for 11 month (September 2024 to July 2025. You will receive a monthly invoice. Payment can be made via bank transfer or by scanning the QR code on the invoice.
- Lesson Schedule: There are 38 lessons per academic year, each lasting one hour. If the teacher is unavailable for any reason, a replacement teacher will be provided, or the lesson will be rescheduled.
- Lesson Pause Policy: Lessons cannot be paused. If you terminate the agreement, re-enrollment is necessary to resume lessons.
- Missed Lessons: Missed lessons are non-refundable.
