Jeroen Bransen - The ICFP Programming Contest
The ICFP Contest (ICFPC) is a yearly programming contest held by the ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming since 1998. The contest is open to contestants from all over the world using any programming language they like, and the prizes consist of some statements made by the organizers about the used programming languages. This year the contest was organized by a group of functional programming enthusiasts from the Netherlands, and Jeroen will talk about the problem, the solutions, the winners, and how the problem was designed to be fun for everyone but also promote functional programming.
Tom Smeding - The Haskell Playground
In this short talk we will see how the Haskell Playground works behind the scenes and how it is operated. Did you know that the very core is just a bunch of shell scripts?
