History lovers of Boston unite, you will lose nothing but your boredom!
If you are a lover of history (whatever kind of history) lets come together and mingle. This is a safe space for you to talk about the history you like with other historians or lovers of history.
I have always been passionate about history, but find it hard to meet likeminded people. Hence, I wanted to create this group to bring together history enthusiasts and history lovers.
We can come together to discuss specific topics or historical events each time we meet, and learn from each other. Also, we will have events where we visit museums and different historical sites around the area.

It was improbable. A rag-tag group of colonial militias was taking on the mighty British army. The British army was made up of professional soldiers who were well-equipped and well-supplied. They were especially good at hand-to-hand combat in which battles usually evolved to. The Americans didn’t have enough clothing or gunpowder and many left to get back to their farms during the campaigns. The colonies didn’t particularly like each other or contribute much to Congress. Washington struggled to keep his small army together.
And in the end, the Americans won.
We’ll explore the key events that led to the American victory. For context, we’ll start with a five-minute video summary of the paths and battles of key generals (Washington, Howe, Cornwallis, Clinton, Burgoyne, Gates, Greene, Rochambeau) over the 8 years of the war. Our conversation will start at the point where Washington flees New York and settles into Valley Forge. We’ll play excerpts from “How the Hell did the United States Survive Fighting Great Britain?” by historian John Miller. We’ll also insert some of the best battle reenactments from Hollywood films.
We’ll pause often for discussion.
