What we’re about
Welcome to the Huddersfield Ecstatic Dance & Movement Medicine Meetup! This group is for anyone interested in reconnecting with their bodies through dance.
Ecstatic dance is a free-form movement practice without a set structure, allowing participants to move in whatever way feels natural.
Movement Medicine blends ecstatic dance with therapeutic approaches and shamanic principles. This means that I will provide more facilitation to guide you through the practice, incorporating elements of nature and the four elements (earth, fire, air and water) to enrich the experience.
I am a medical doctor turned DJ and Movement Medicine dance facilitator. This practice has been profoundly healing and supportive in my life, which is why I am combining my expertise to hold these sessions and help others find freedom and pleasure through instinctive movement. This practice can create ripple effects of positive change in everyday life.
The beauty of this practice is that there is no wrong way to move. Everyone’s movement is unique, making this a space where individuality and community is celebrated.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced dancer, this community is safe and welcoming for everyone. These gatherings provide a space for self-expression, liberation, and self-discovery.
Currently, classes are held monthly, but starting in the new year, they will be offered fortnightly.
