What we’re about

This group is about bringing people together and to help people who have been affected by the pandemic. We host a variety of events such as pub and coffee meetups, group meals, country walks, day trips and activity events. This is a local group so there will be mainly local events but occasionally we will host events further afield.

Who is it for:
This group is aimed at people aged 25 or over. Anyone can join if they are 25+ and live a suitable distance to Huddersfield (within 15 miles). Due to late dropouts and no-shows we no longer accept membership for those who live in Manchester, Leeds, Bradford & Sheffield.

Fees:
There is a £1 charge for every standard event (collected in person) except for those done via PayPal which will be £1.50 (this is to cover administration cost and transaction fees). if it is ticket-based or Day trips/Overnight stays these will be charged differently to cover the additional costs. Fees are at the discretion of the host, sometimes we host free events to help new members try out an event first.

RSVPs:
It is important that if you cannot attend an event you need to update your RSVP.
Please be considerate and drop out if there are others on the waiting list and you cannot make it in due time. Last minute (same day of the event) dropouts will get a strike unless they have a good reason to cancel so late, please contact your host in due time as well..
It is important to commit to your RSVP (Yes or No) attendance. As part of reducing no-shows and last day drop-outs for this years events we will be monitoring attendances to ensure it is fair for all members.
Going forward to prevent hosting issues and unfairness to committed members of the group, "No shows" (people who do not turn up or communicate why they haven't attended the event) will be removed from the group. This is to ensure it is fair for everyone and especially to those who may have been on a waiting list.

Admission rules:

  • Membership requests must be within a suitable distance to Huddersfield to allow for travel time for the event etc.. Up to 15 miles is a good estimate. We are no longer accepting memberships from Manchester, Leeds or Sheffield due to members coming from these areas being inactive for long periods.
  • Membership request requires a suitable up to date profile photo of yourself.
  • Membership requires that you are 25 or over

General rules:

  • No shows will be removed from the group and also members who have shown subsequent late dropouts will be removed.
  • Any misconduct towards other members or organisers such as harassment, bullying, stalking or other offensive behaviour will mean instant removal from the group and they will be reported to the Meetup Misconduct team.
  • Members must conduct themselves professionally and have respect for other members.
  • Members who have been inactive for more than 5 months and have never been on an event will be removed.
