What we’re about
- Are you interested in investing, budgeting or FI?
- Are you looking for like-minded people to bounce your ideas off?
- Are you looking to learn, teach and share?
- Or are you just excited about setting personal goals?
My name is Cameron. I'm not a banker, an accountant, or any kind of expert in finance. But over the last few years I've become more interested in personal finance, mostly in budgeting and investing.
I'm looking for some like-minded folks to share ideas with. This is a new group and the format may change over time, but depending on numbers it will ideally take the form of a discussion group where we can take it in turns to talk about our goals - are you saving for a house deposit? Trying to pay down some debt? Or just looking to get started saving money?
We can then take a moment to ask each other questions (what is your timeframe? How are you planning to do it?) and offer insight or suggestions - in a respectful manner.
The overall idea is accountability - we share ideas and goals with each other so that there's no more excuses for not making our goals a reality, even a little bit at a time.
I hope that we can leave each meeting with new ideas and determination - and give an updated report on our goals next time!
Some house rules and considerations:
1 - Depending on participant numbers, we make have to put a time limit on each speaker so that we all get a chance to share.
2 - Standard respect and good manner apply - No hate speech, personal remarks, bigotry, or assorted -isms. Let's focus on what we all have in common, and that's a desire for education and financial improvement.
3 - Please respect that when someone has the floor, it's their turn. If you'd like to add to what they're saying, please wait till they're finished or raise your hand.
4 - This is a discussion group only, and NOT any sort of formal, official financial advice. Please consult a professional before taking any big risks with your money. Neither the host nor the discussion participants are responsible for any losses you may incur. Your decisions are always your own.
