What we’re about
ISSA NOVA, the Northern Virginia chapter of the Information Systems Security Association, hosts monthly meetings featuring exciting speakers, networking, and dinner. Meetings are free to members, and qualify for CPE credits. Non-ISSA members are invited to attend a meeting or two, before deciding if they wish to become an ISSA member.
Our monthly speakers cover topics such as Privacy and Security, GDPR, Insider Threat, AI, DevSepOps, etc. Our speakers have included Dr. Ron Ross of NIST, and Vint Cerf, Father of the Internet, and many more. More information can be found on our website: NOVA-ISSA.org

About the Speaker: Ray Murphy has extensive information security and information technology experience. He has held positions with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) as the Chief Information Security Officer, Navy Federal Credit Union as the Chief Information Security Officer and Vice President Fraud Management, LEO Cyber Security CISO Advisor for small credit unions, and the Mobil Oil Corporation All aspects of information technology. As a Global IT Security Executive, he is committed to fueling growth, profitability, and innovation by streamlining operations, scaling networks and systems, optimizing security protocols and applications, and building innovative, business-aligned cybersecurity operations.
Nicolas (Nick) Leshock retired as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of General Dynamics (GD) after 18 years supporting the most amazing employees in the defense industry. Little did he know when he was commissioned in the Army 37 years ago that he would have the privilege of service to our nation both in uniform and in our nation’s defense industrial base. Nick served as the CIO of GD for 9 years and the General Dynamics Information Technology Director, Cyber Security Services for 9 years. He commanded the National Capital Information Operations Center (NCRIOC) Battalion. Prior he was a Managing Principal of the Security Practice for Alcatel-Lucent. He served at the White House Communications Agency (WHCA) as a U.S. Army Officer. He is a graduate of the Penn State University Masters of Science Computer Engineering and a Bachelor of Science Unites States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Nick holds the CISSP and PMP certifications.
Chris Tignor is a highly accomplished technology risk and cybersecurity executive with over two decades of experience in the financial services industry, leading teams up to 250 people and managing budgets up to $150 million. His career is marked by numerous achievements in planning, organizing, and directing cyber and information security efforts, all with the goal of minimizing risk and fortifying IT infrastructure. He is currently a Microsoft Customer Security Officer – Executive Security Advisor. He previously was the PRA Group’s Global Chief Information Security Officer Global Chief Information Security Officer. He was the Federal Reserve System National IT Division’s Cybersecurity Chief Data Officer and Senior Vice President & Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). He was the Capital One Financial Vice President, Information Security & Risk Management Operations Officer and Vice President, Chief Information Security Officer.
He has a BBA, Computer Information Systems & Business Analytics from James Madison (Grade: Magna Cum Laude) and a MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a Microsoft Nonprofit Advisor AI Usage Policy Volunteer.
