What we’re about

Un club de lectura en español (y otras lenguas).

This group is a spin-off from the Leuven Books and Babble meet-up group. The purpose is to have pleasant and enriching conversations in languages other than English. For the time being we have a monthly discussion in Spanish, on the first Saturday of each month. In the future, depending on demand, we intend to create events in other languages. If interested, please join and signal which other languages would interest you.

Who is this group for:
Native speakers who possibly spend their day working in English and otherwise living in Dutch or other languages and miss reading and having conversations in their mother tongue.
Language students who would like to use their language skills, have interesting conversations on a book, beyond traditional conversation tables. One learns better when feeling the urge to get a point across.

At present we have a Spanish discussion group on the first Saturday of every month. It works as follows:

The book can be read in the language you choose. The discussion takes place in Spanish, but you can use English occasionally when necessary. Substance primes over form. This set up means that the only requirement to fully enjoy the group would be to have an acceptable level of Spanish and English oral comprehension.

In practical terms, we adhere to the practices of Leuven Books and Babble:We read both fiction and non-fiction. The books we read are chosen by voting. Each person can nominate one book. You have two votes; the book with the most votes will be selected.

Participation is limited to 10 persons. If not coming, please update your RSVP promptly.

We charge a fee of €1 per meeting, collected at the meeting.
