What we’re about
This is for handpan owners, wanabees, and everyone who loves the sound of a handpan. We will help each other refine our playing techniques. We will create wonderful sound together. We will become exposed to others' handpans that were built for different sound than the one(s) we play.
A little about me, the founder of this new group: While rebuilding my life, I have involved myself in music, interpretive dance, and yoga. (Along the way many wonderful people have arrived in my life.) This includes my new handpan that was built right here in Madison, Wisconsin. I am not a musician. But I seem to have a knack for sound and vibration that I want to pursue for self, as well as, provide some peace and calm for others. The handpan is a beautiful instrument for this. Practice, exploration, and diving into a curiosity are what I hope people will find by joining this group. Welcome! I would be honored to have you join me. Please share with others. Our first gathering is likely to be at a local park within the next couple of weeks.
At this time there are no fees associated with this group. That may change in the future if the group grows and structured events, especially needing to move indoors as weather changes, become necessary. Thank you. I look forward to meeting you!

Want to learn to play the handpan?
The Handpan Meetup is a learning community where players come to learn key handpan skills together in a supportive environment. A handpan is a steel drum, shaped like a hollow orb or a kettle grill, that is played with the hands. Our learning community focuses on building basic handpan skills, learning new patterns, drilling for muscle memory, and working together to share feedback and learn. If you have never played handpan before, please join us! We will have instruments to share and welcome new players.
Each week we focus on a different skill: touch, posture, fluid movement, hand balance, rhythm, and grooves. We learn exercises to practice skills and get to play music together.
The instructor is Addi Faerber, has been playing handpans for 3 years, performs with the Wellspring Collective and at local yoga studios, teaches private handpan lessons, and is organizing the Heartland Hangout Handpan Gathering. | Linktr.ee | Youtube | Instagram |
