Are you sick of superheroes and Jedis? Have you gone cross-eyed from too much CGI? Do you have difficulty remembering or caring what number the Fast and Furious franchise is on? Then come with me, because we’re going back. Back to a time of hard drinking detectives and double crossing dames. A time of quick one liners and million dollar explosions.
If you enjoy the look, feel and sound of films from the past, this group is for you. Between HOME, Vue Printworks, Everyman Cinema and Cultplex (formerly Chapeltown Picture House), a wide range of films are regularly available, from classic noirs of the 40s, gory horrors from the 80s, and sharp thrillers of the 90s.
The plan is simple. We meet up, grab a drink and then watch a movie. If we are feeling adventurous, we can even talk to each other too. So sign up, come along and watch an old favourite on the big screen.

Following the disappointment of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973), Sam Peckinpah headed to Mexico with actor Warren Oates to make the low budget oddity that is Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia. It would become one of the director’s most subversive films and one of the actor’s most emblematic performances.
When a crime boss simply known as El Jefe finds out who the father of his daughter’s baby is, he offers a $1 million bounty for anyone who can “bring him the head of Alfredo Garcia.” This sets in motion a series of events that have an unexpected impact on the life of small-time bar manager and piano player Bennie (Oates).
As the story progresses, it becomes an increasingly dream-like and hallucinatory road movie punctuated with Peckinpah’s particular take on violent action sequences. Poorly received at the time of its release, Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia has now become a cult classic that seems to get better on every viewing.

At a Christmas party hosted by the wealthy, unconventional Victor Ziegler, the happily married life of Bill and Alice Harford is unsettled by a series of provocative advances and innocent flirtations with other guests.
Troubled by Alice’s confession about her secret, unfulfilled desires, Bill sets out to explore his own fantasies. But his journey through the seedy underbelly of New York’s high society takes him to a place where the boundaries between reality and illusion, jealousy and obsession, are indecipherable.
Divisive, bewildering and compelling – Eyes Wide Shut is the fascinating final enigma from master filmmaker Stanley Kubrick.

Beset with personal and professional problems, George Bailey finds that his previously happy life is falling apart around him on Christmas Eve.
Seeing no way out, George considers taking drastic action – but Clarence, his guardian angel, intervenes and shows George what his beloved hometown of Bedford Falls would be like without him.
Shocked by what he sees, George reconsiders and begs Clarence to return him to the problems of the present and the loving community he has fostered throughout his life.
