Non-Duality through the lens of Beatitudes
Details
Join us for an exploration into the beatitude "Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the kingdom of God," through the lens of Meister Eckhart and his essay on this profound topic.
I will bring some readings from Eckhart's work for our reflections, contemplating the notion of "poverty" not as material lack, but as an inner state of emptiness and openness. Together, we’ll delve into how this concept mellows the ego, and makes it open to reflect the entire world.
This meet-up is a chance to engage with concepts of mindful openness, emptiness, and the mellowing of ego, as we consider the radical invitation to experience the Divine beyond self-identification. We’ll also reflect on Eckhart’s insights into the limitations of intellectual understanding, and the trans-formative power of inner poverty as an invitation to embrace the presence.
Structure:
- Introductions and Meditation (10 minutes)
- Discussion Part 1 (45 minutes)
- Break (10 minutes)
- Discussion Part 2 (45 minutes)
- Closing Meditation and Conclusion (10 minutes)
This exploration will guide us toward understanding why the True Nature or Divine Essence cannot be comprehended through possessions, identities, or intellectual striving, but only through emptying ourselves of these constructs to arrive at direct knowing.
Whether you are new to these topics or have been contemplating them for some time, your presence and insights are welcome.
The meeting will last 2 hours, including a break.
Suggested donation (not mandatory): $5 to cover the cost of renting the room
