Ukulele in the Park!
Details
Hi folks, let's meet outdoors ! This is the first outdoor uke session since the one 9 months ago.
We will play easy beginner songs in the first 20-25 minutes. If you are a beginner, please don't miss this part. In the later part, we will play harder songs - with 3 to 5 chords. If your fingers get sore (and they will for beginners), just rest them and sing along :)
After the session, join me for a drink and a chat at Kensington RSL (300 metres away).
I hope to see lots of you!
Venue:
Meet at the grassy area beside Kensington Railway Station and bordered by Rankins Road and Eastwood Street. We will play under the shade of two gum trees.
What to bring:
Please bring your own ukulele or borrow one. I have two spare ukuleles that you can borrow for this meetup. You can reserve them by leaving a comment in the comments section below.
Bring a mat, hat, sunscreen, snacks and drinks.
Important: Bring a folding chair if you don't want to sit on the grass for 2 hours.
If you're a first timer and feel a bit nervous, please feel free to bring a friend or two. Just indicate how many when you RSVP. If you don't want to play but just want to enjoy the music (or sing), come along too! This is also a child-friendly session :)
Cost? It's free! However, last year some of you suggested to make available a donation box so I will bring one this time.
How to Get There:
Train - From the city, catch a Craigieburn Line train and get off at Kensington Station, which is 2 stops from Southern Cross Station or 1 stop from North Melbourne Station. Be careful you don't take the wrong line to SOUTH Kensington Station which is 900 metres away.
Driving - park at Eastwood St beside the railway line.
Bus - Take bus 402 (towards Footscray) to Macaulay Road. Get off when you go past Kensington Station. The bus stop is near Australia Post (There is a Foodworks opposite Australia Post).
Tram - Take tram 57 from the city. Stop at Racecourse Road (outside Woolworths) and walk down Eastwood St (about 700 metres).
Important reminders:
If you can't attend at the last minute, please change your RSVP or send a message via the Meetup app.
Please keep the park litter-free and help to clean up at the end of the session.
Children and young people under 18 must have accompanying adults at all times.
cheers,
Fi
