What we’re about
Midcoast Paddlers is a meet-up group with a schedule of paddles for a mix of beginning, intermediate and advanced- intermediate paddlers. All paddles are free and open to the public. By taking part in a Midcoast Paddlers group paddle, you are implicitly stating that you hold harmless all other participants of the trip and that you are responsible for your own safety.
Wednesday paddles are planned for the beginning paddler in mind. All kayakers must bring a recreational kayak, PFD, paddle, water, clothes appropriate for the weather, energy snack and all medications, prescribed or OTC, that may be needed while with the group. Paddles last approximately 2 to 2-1/2 hours.
Saturday paddles are planned for the intermediate to advanced intermediate paddler in mind. Paddlers will be on open ocean or tidal rivers. Kayakers must possess the skills necessary to paddle safely in calm to challenging sea conditions caused by waves, tides, currents, and winds of up to 10 mph and can complete a self or assisted rescue. All kayakers must bring a sea kayak, paddle, paddle float, water pump, spray skirt, whistle, water, clothes appropriate for the weather and water conditions, water and all medications, prescribed or OTC, that may be needed while with the group. Not required but highly recommended are extra clothing, spare paddle, chart and compass, energy snack. Paddles are generally 3 to 3-1/2 hours.
