What we’re about
Welcome to Melb-Walks, fellow walker!
This group hosts a 1-hour mindful-walk at 11am every Sunday morning in Yarra Bend Park. The organiser (Thomas) is both an avid walker and a mindfulness meditation expert.
There is a bus-stop nearby on Johnston Street and there should be parking available on Yarra Boulevard or at Studley Park Boathouse.
We will meet at 11am at Kanes Bridge and wait 15-minutes for people to arrive.
In this time you can meet the group and you will also be given some basic instructions on how to do mindful walking meditation.
You will also be given a small card which has the "Lightening Up" framework (which is a meditation framework focused on self-actualisation)... it has things such as helpful attitudes and a loving-kindness prayer.
You can take this card with you or even put it in your wallet so you can take it wherever you go.. it's our gift to you.
At 11.15am we will start walking around the forest loop... you are free to go at your own pace and do as many laps as you want. In general we recommend that people take their time and don't rush.
We will walk for 1-hour until 12.15pm. Then you are free to go home or you can come to get refreshments at the boathouse nearby.
This group is part of the Melb-Walks network. Basically we just do all kinds of walks around Melbourne. You can learn more at our website: melbwalks.com.au.
These mindful walks do cost $2 in order to cover the costs and help achieve our goal of promoting the group to a wider audience on Instagram.
We have a special WhatsApp community called Melbourne Walking Club. If you join you can connect with other members and plan new walking events together. There's a general channel for chit-chat but there's also channels focused on different purposes such as:
- South-Eastern Suburbs
- Day-Hikes in Regional VIC
- Multi-Day Treks
- 21km+
- Mindful-Walking Tips
Just join whatever channels are relevant to you!
It costs $9 per month to join Melbourne Walking Club and you are free to cancel anytime if you want. You can learn more and sign up here: melbwalks.com.au/#register.
