What we’re about
The NJ Drone User Group (part of The Drone Group) is all about getting together to Help and Learn about the technology behind building and flying a UAV* (or sUAS*) drone, as well as how to use it safely and sensibly for fun and commercial use. (please read the basic rules here: http://alturl.com/mmftw)
We fly most weekends, weather and TFRs permitting (Temporary Flight Restriction, such as when POTUS is in the area) at various locations.
I formed the NJ Drone User Group (NjDug.org) in 2o14 and hold Flying, Building, Training and Social events throughout NJ and adjacent States - I plan putting on Drone Expos and to build a new NJ racing league. If you'd like to sponsor and/or help with either, reach out to me.
Whether you're an expert or have only just begun, come and join the fun with our GREAT members. Bring the Family as we are a Kid friendly group...
* UAV = Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle and sUAS = small Uncrewed Aircraft System (less than 55lbs - under 87knots/100mph)
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Fly-In near the Verrazzano BridgeCalvert Vaux Park Greenway, Brooklyn, NY
We've been invited to fly at the Seaview Rotary Wing Club's field at the south western tip of Brooklyn and they have put on fantastic weather 🙃 for us.....
A large field, that also has great views of Coney Island Creek, the Yellow Submarine Island, and the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge across Gravesend Bay. Take a look at their Photo Album http://alturl.com/s22xk
FPV, Helicopters and planes okay... (Let me know if you'd like gates setup before Friday)....
Follow instructions in the "How to find Us" section, and look at the photos carefully....
Check our local Weather link http://alturl.com/ju4mg
Minimum of 3 Members or this Fly-In will be postponed.... Check back here BEFORE you head out to see if there has been any changes...
- Fly-In at the Dam CreekThe Dam Creek Park, Trenton, NJ
No, I'm not d#m swearing, it's a Creek with a Dam that really needs exploring and also a large open area to fly any size Drone, FPV or Plane....
Make sure to follow the TIP directions below.....
Check Nick's local Weather Station: http://alturl.com/3mypu but at time of posting, it looks nice flying weather...
TIP: If driving turnpike south, take exit 7A not exit 8 - as you need to be on route 130 north to get easy access... This way, there are less traffic lights and it puts you on the right side of the road for the entrance...
If you take exit 8, it'll put you southbound on route 130 and you'll have no access to the entrance, so you'd need to do a U turn someway down the road....Minimum 4 Member RSVP (not including Hosts or Guests) or the Fly-In will be postponed..
- Fly-In at EtraEtra Lake Park, East Windsor, NJ
Flying around this huge Park's trees, lake. and playing fields, all make for some great views, and there's a really large area field that gives us plenty of space to fly (see our white canopy in the center of picture above)....
FPV mini-quads and planes okay if either of the two fields are low on general public. We'll set up some gates for you to have some fun practicing, if you ask before the meeting date....
