Outdoor Club of South Jersey - Hiking/Camping/Backpacking

This is a lovely park with woodland and paved trails and public toilets.

This will be a moderate paced hike of about 90 minutes and 3 to 3.5 miles.
The long awaited new wooden walkway is complete and open so we'll check it out.

The park has 2 entrances: on Greentree Rd between Chapel Heights and Hurffville Cross Keys Rd, (.3 miles north of Duffield’s) and another on Hurffville Cross Keys road west of Greentree.

Park in lot E next to the amphitheater, look for my white Crosstrek.

PLEASE NOTE: 9am is STARTING TIME. PLEASE ARRIVE by 8:45 SO YOU HAVE TIME TO ADJUST SHOES AND SIGN IN.

Dogs aren't permitted on the trails or fields.

A couple of months ago as I read through the O.C.S.J. hiking schedule I read about Larry Caniglia's hike on the Tulpehocken Trail. I led a hike on the Batona Trail up to Apple Pie Hill and I saw the blazes for the Tulpehocken Trail. I have read about this trail on the South Jersey Trails so I decided to lead a hike on this trail.
The Tulpehocken Trail as described by South Jersey Trails has a varied terrain, hilly,contains cedar creeks, swamp/bog marshes,renaturalized cranberry bogs and sand dunes.The hiking surface is sand roads, gravel,pine needles, boardwalks and bridges.
The hike begins on the Batona ( pink) Trail and we hike up to Apple Pie Hill ( Fire Tower) and connect to Tulpehocken (blue) Trail.We continue on this trail until we reach Carranza Road for right turn. We continue until we reach the Batona Trail for lunch break.After lunch we continue on Batona Trail back to cars.

6 to 6.5 mile moderate pace hike through Wenonah Woods along Mantua Creek and Break Back Run to Wenonah Lake. We start at Tall Pines
Preserve on the Perimeter Trail to Shawnee drive and Indian Trail and than into the woods. Some of the trails can be wet and muddy and they can be a challenge with many ups and downs. Wear sturdy boots and bring walking poles. The return will be about 2 miles on sidewalks through Wenonah and Wenonah Park. Bring a snack, water and lunch.
There are no bathrooms in the area. Stop before you come.

A 5-7 mile moderately paced walk on the sand roads and wider trails of Brendan Byrne State Forest and Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area. No lunch. There will be a short break or two.

Laggards may not be liked,
but they will be overlooked
until my orthopedic adversity
can reverse for me.
