Seabranch Preserve SP /Galapagos Tortoises/ Hobe Sound Bike Ride
Details
Instead of shopping on 'Black Friday Morning' join us at 10 AM November 29 2024. Meet at Seabranch Preserve State Park (1.5 miles south of Cove Road on Old Dixie Hwy/A-1-A. No fee.
Ride will cover 14 miles at 8-10 mph, mostly on sidewalk/bike path, with 3-4 miles on a residential road. In the residential area, please ride single-file leaving a gap between bikes in case a passing car needs to cut back in.
In the Rocky Point area we may see a large tortoise if it's out in its yard. See photos below of past encounters .
On to Twin Rivers Park where we will walk the boardwalk and usually see gopher tortoises. If you bring food (squash, cucumbers, pumpkin) to feed them keep your fingers away as they can nip your fingers. Also stop at Maggy's Hammock but not walking it. Then we'll ride back to Seabranch, where we started, for a picnic lunch. Bring a chair and your lunch( leave in the car), also water, sunscreen. Pit toilet available .
Hope you can make it. Ben at [email protected] or 561-425-3077.
