Helping To Build Our Community! Welcome to the Secular Humanists of Rochester meetup group! A chapter of the American Humanist Association.
Our goal is to provide a welcoming and safe place for all persons whether they consider themselves a humanist, atheist, agnostic, freethinker, nonbeliever, nontheist, skeptic, or do I dare say, an infidel. Atheist-friendly people or those questioning their faith are welcome to attend, but be aware that atheism is at the forefront of this group. Proselytizing is not permitted.
Are you humanist? Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism or other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good. Secular humanism, of simple called humanism, is a philosophy, belief, system of life stance that embraces human reason, secular ethics, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, and superstition as the basis of morality and decision-making.
