Santa Clara Casual Volleyball

This meetup is for beginners or advanced beginners who want to
play without pressure or want more time to work on improving.
Proper play with 3 hits still emphasized.

1. you must signup, no walk-ons. Signups close friday night.
2. no children, pls, adults only
3. beginners/adv beginners
4. Two nets max/(20) please signup only if you know you are going, or remove yourself if you realize you can't asap
5. this would be a better start point over sundays if you are new and have not played(much)

Get together to play volleyball! The first hour we will setup nets and do warmup drills like bump and overhand passing, serving, and hitting lines. After that we'll play games by forming random teams and then playing 2 games. We will reform teams and play 2 more games and so on. If you arrive late, you can try to find a team that has less than 6 ppl or just warm up and wait until teams are reformed.

General rules:
We generally play by indoor rules - so open hand receive is okay. No blocking or attacking the serve. Call net touches, backrow hitting behind the 10ft line(if teams of 5 or 6). Blocking is a 'free touch'. Most importantly pls try not to go under the net(it can cause injury). We generally are very lenient with everything else such as set spins/doubles or foot faults. If you can't agree on something just take the point over....remember we are here to have fun...not argue.

As a team you can play as you want, but generally we play with the front middle as setter with two wings/hitters and then the middle back up with the other two backrow covering deep. This is the default so everyone is on the same page.
