This is a leisurely paddle in the Winding Waters Natural Area in Palm Beach County. There are no rentals at this location. Suitable for beginners and for paddleboards. We will be on the water a couple hours.

Winding Waters is a short ways west of the intersection of Haverhill Road and Dyer Blvd. The address, 6161 Haverhill Road, West Palm Beach, FL, is the official address of the park and a good one to use with your GPS to get in the vicinity. To get to the launch area go north from that address to Dyer Blvd and then go west on Dyer until the entrance, on your left.

Outings Leader Volunteer Opportunities!
Outings are crucial to Sierra Club Loxahatchee Group. We use them to expose folks to the outdoors. We use them to invite folks to get together and enjoy each other’s company. We use them to educate. We use them to show what Sierra Club does. And we use them to have fun.
To have a successful outings program we need outing leaders, and that’s where you can help us. Even something as simple as a walk in a park can be a Sierra Club outing. A two-hour bike ride on your favorite trail can easily be turned into a Sierra Club outing. If there is something you like to do outdoors and you want some great company along make it an outing!
Becoming an outing leader requires a bit of training and will include doing your first trips under the supervision of an experienced leader. Sierra Club will help you every step of the way. The number of outings you lead and the places you go are totally up to you.
This volunteer opportunity is a fun way to meet new people, share your love and knowledge of Florida's many habitats and advance the Club's motto: To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth.

Volunteer Opportunity: Newsletter Editor needed!

The Sierra Club Loxahatchee Group needs an editor to join the Turtle Tracks Newsletter Team.
Our newsletter, Turtle Tracks, is a monthly, emailed publication. The newsletter editing team collects articles and photos, edits and sends them to the newsletter editor. The newsletter editor formats them into an email using a software called Marketing Cloud.
The newsletter editing team needs a volunteer to convert these articles and photos into the Marketing Cloud email. This volunteer will be trained in the use of the Marketing Cloud software through the National Sierra Club digital staff and guided along the way by an already-experienced member of our newsletter team.
Training is estimated to take four to five hours, all online and mostly at your own speed. Once trained, the time commitment would at first be about six hours toward the end of each month. The time spent on each issue will decrease significantly with practice.
This position does not require writing or editing. The volunteer simply uses the edited material from the other team members and plugs it into the newsletter format. Computer experience is necessary and layout skills a plus. Experience with Marketing Cloud or other composition software would be very valuable.
This is a vital role in the functioning of the Group.

We will be paddling about three hours on this beautiful, pristine stream near Stuart. It becomes increasingly scenic and narrow as you paddle. We'll stop at a remote picnic site halfway through and then paddle back to the starting point. Bring drink and food as you desire. This trip is very gentle and suitable for beginners with the stamina to paddle for three hours. No rentals available. Paddleboards are OK here.

Launch at Hosford Park 7474 SW Gaines Ave., Stuart, FL. From I-95 go east on Kanner Highway (State Road 76) to SE Cove Road (second light) and take a right, then another quick right onto SW Gaines Ave. Watch for the park on your right.

Allow yourself time to launch at 10 am.

We will be paddling the UPRIVER portion of the Loxahatchee River at Riverbend Park, 9060 W Indiantown Rd, Jupiter. This trip requires TWO small portages of about 200 feet to get into the upper river portion and back. Folks generally help each other at the portage. This is a leisurely three to four hour flatwater paddle with a picnic stop halfway through. Caution: Boats with fins will likely have trouble in the weeds.

We will shove off at 10 am from the public boat launch in the park. Enter the park and follow the signs to the canoe/boat launch on Picnic Island. We are NOT meeting at the boat rental site.

Required: PFD (on and fastened), whistle, ten feet of rope. Also bring hydration and snacks as you wish and whatever personal items you need. Each participant must register separately and read and sign the waiver.

YOU MUST LET THE TRIP LEADER KNOW IF YOU ARE RENTING. IF YOU ARE RENTING MAKE SURE YOU ALLOW YOURSELF ABOUT 20 MINUTES TO PADDLE FROM THE RENTAL PLACE TO THE PUBLIC LAUNCH TO JOIN THE GROUP. GO LEFT FROM THE RENTAL PLACE, TAKE THE FIRST RIGHT, FOLLOW THE WATER, UNDER A BRIDGE, AROUND TO THE LEFT THROUGH A TUNNEL AND THEN WATCH FOR THE PUBLIC LAUNCH ON THE LEFT. THE RENTAL FOLKS WILL GIVE YOU DIRECTIONS IF YOU ASK.

This is a leisurely two-hour paddle in the backwaters of an urban park in central Palm Beach County. Please arrive in time for launch at 10 am.

Use the Congress Avenue entrance to John Prince Park, 4759 South Congress Ave., Lake Worth. Go straight through the stop sign and follow the directions to 'PBSO Bike Unit.' The road curves right and then left and then heads straight east. On the right is a canal and on the left is Square Lake and a fishing dock. Just past the dock take a left through the gap in the wooden fence. You will see a grassy area and a sandy spot at the water. This is the launch place. Paddleboards will be fine here. No rentals available.

This is a leisurely, two-hour paddle on the water trail at Okeeheelee Park South. The park is at 7715 Forest Hill Blvd, West Palm Beach. Go south from Forest Hill, NOT NORTH. Then go past the equestrian facilities on your right and take the first left turn to the boat launch, parking lot and restroom. Allow yourself time to launch at 10 please.

There are no rentals at this location. Restrooms at launch. Suitable for paddleboarders.

Meet at the boat ramp at West Lake Park in Hollywood. The address is 1200 Sheridan St., Hollywood, FL. The entrance is on the SOUTH side of Sheridan Street. Arrive in time for launching at 10 am please.
This will be about a four-hour paddle through the mangroves with a stop at Anne Kolb Nature Center and Observation Tower. Entrance to the park is $1.50/person and entrance to the Nature Center’s exhibit hall is $2/person. There is no charge to use the observation tower. Restrooms are available at the park and at the nature center.

Rentals are available. Call 954-357-5161 to make your own arrangements. Please let the trip leader know if you are renting by leaving a comment below. Renters should paddle the short distance from the rental stand to the boat ramp to meet up with the group at 10 a.m.
