Blast from the 90’s past - Australian band Tumbleweed are touring…
“Tumbleweed is set to return with new music this November and will back it up with a run of shows in support of the release. The single ‘When We Were Young’ will be backed with their other most recent single Patchouli Girl and released as a limited 7” vinyl on November 29th, with the band playing shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane across December and January to launch it.
The track was recorded in the same sessions as ‘Patchouli Girl’ that was released in 2022 and has been held for release until the band were ready to tour once more. Produced by Rob Younger, vocalist Richie Lewis says of the sessions “I was always a big fan of Rob Younger’s work as a singer and as a producer and always wanted to work with him, when we had the idea to record a string of 45’s, we really wanted Rob to produce, considering he was responsible for producing most of our favourite Australian singles. We live in the same town, we have shared band members and crossed paths for the past 25 years but we have never worked together.”
While ‘Patchouli Girl’ tapped into the bands gentler pop orientated side, ‘When We Were Young’ picks it up a notch with Tumbleweed’s garage/punk influence coming to the forefront and is sure to be a live favourite at the forthcoming shows.
The Wollongong five piece celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2021 with the release of a singles box set and continued it into 2022 with tours to celebrate the milestone. After a year’s break from playing live, the band are back in the rehearsal studio preparing to play some shows with the legendary Hoodoo Gurus before heading out for their own headline tour in support of the ‘When We Were Young/Patchouli Girl’ 7” release.”

Please join me in seeing British band IDLES at the hordern pavillion.
“Idles' music has been described as punk rock, post-punk,hardcore punk,post-hardcore, and art rock.Talbot rejected the punk label;in 2017, he said: "We're not a post punk band. I guess we have that motorik, engine-like drive in the rhythm section that some post punk bands have, but we have plenty of songs that aren't like that at all."
“British rock outfit IDLES will make their highly-anticipated return to Australia and New Zealand in support of their new album, TANGK.
TANGK is the righteous and vibrant fifth album from madcap truth-seekers, IDLES. Pronounced “tank” with a whiff of the “g” - an onomatopoeic reference to the lashing way the band imagined their guitars sounding that has since grown into a sigil for living in love - the record is the band’s most ambitious and striking work yet. Where IDLES were once set on taking the world’s piss, squaring off with strong jaws against the perennially entitled, and exercising personal trauma in real time, they have arrived in this new act to offer the fruits of such perseverance: love, joy, and indeed gratitude for the mere opportunity of existence.
IDLES’ 2025 tour of Australia & New Zealand will see the band play their biggest headline shows across the region, with dates in Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.”

“Amyl and The Sniffers have had a monster year, devastating the main stages of European summer festivals, supporting Foo Fighters on their recent US stadium run, and selling out their own headline tours in the US, UK and Europe, including three consecutive nights at the 3,000-capacity Roundhouse in London. They are the main support for Fontaines DC's 45,000 capacity Finsbury Park show in July 2025 (already sold out) and have just announced their biggest headline ever at London's Alexandra Palace in November 2025.
Following the release of singles U Should Not Be Doing That, Chewing Gum, Big Dreams and the joyful FU that is Jerkin', Amyl and The Sniffers are entering a new era with their third album, Cartoon Darkness. Already hailed as "album of the year" (Clash) and "a level-up in every way" (Brooklyn Vegan), Cartoon Darkness sees the Sniffers grow in brilliant, bold directions — still delivering hard and fast thrills, but expanding the heart, the danceable hooks, and the humour, channelling Amy Taylor's singular worldview into the Sniffers' most mature and exciting album to date.
Amyl and The Sniffers are absolutely delighted to bring Cartoon Darkness home to Australia this summer, supported by Bob Vylan (UK) and Miss Kaninna.
Their debut New Zealand shows will be supported by C.O.F.F.I.N.
