Equated to the hands-on healing that Christ was known to give, as well as many other spiritual healers throughout our known history, it was brought forward in our modern time (late 1920s) as a traditionally formalized method by Dr. Mikao Usui, who is labeled as Reiki's Founder, and to whom most Reiki practices root back to.
