Let's meet at nearby at Bushwick's Left Hand Path bar at 6:30pm to get acquainted a bit before the show. We'll walk (4 minute walk) over to the venue (The Sultan Room) around 7:30pm, (doors at 7pm). ABOUT THE MUSIC
Rogê
(From World Music Central) "Rogê represents the new generation of artists of the Brazilian Popular Music movement. He plays a captivating kind of samba and moves effortlessly from bossa nova to samba and reggae with the ease of a prolific composer.

Rogê’s shows also present the roots of the Brazilian music and its connection to Africa through a combination of jongo, samba, afoxe and maculele."

Cochemea
(From <3 Daptone Records <3 Site) "All My Relations was a family reunion of sorts, conjoining spirits, musicians, melodies and rhythms from his various worlds to define a contemplative, lyrical, and always funk-laced musical vision. Leading a nine-piece ensemble composed of New York’s top percussionists and members of Daptone’s rhythm section, Cochemea recombined ancient elements of drums, winds, and voice, creating his own world of emotional textures and rhythmic possibilities.

...Critics and deejays received All My Relations with praise. To Cool Hunting, it was a “transcendent jazz experience.” Pitchfork wrote: “equal parts spiritual journey and irrepressible funk,” while Mojo gave the album four stars, noting, “ the message of harmony and one-ness...is universal.”

Daptone Records is one of my fav record labels so no doubt he's worthy!

Venue accessibility: "The Sultan Room was built with accessibility for all! We have seating areas, an elevator and we are wheelchair accessible. When you arrive, let security out front know and they will call for a manager to take you either to your seat or to the elevator."
