What we’re about
The Toot team is Jens, Tom, Peter & Miranda. In mid-2016 we saw the opportunity for a regular soiree for instrumentalists and singers to perform with a professional, highly flexible 5-piece band. Whether you’re an old hand or a first-timer in the spotlight, you’ll have a great experience with a friendly audience in an intimate, no-attitude environment. The beautiful sandstone surrounds of the Uniting Church frame a stunning grand piano, the centrepiece of the performance space. Each evening is exciting and different as both new and familiar faces sing, strum and toot the night away!
Miranda Fair is your hilarious hostess each evening. Crowned Miss Mardi Gras Fair Day in 2000, she's been hosting and singing around the Sydney traps for years, starting with karaoke hosting in the 1990s and graduating to performing with The Blue Mabels for eight years up to early 2017.
Our band is a bunch of talented jazz musicians who loan us their time and skill for a nominal fee each Toot. We're also extremely appreciative of the good spirit of the Uniting Church Balmain who let us use their space for a contribution to the upkeep of their magnificent grand piano.
And of course we're delighted and grateful that regular and new faces turn up each month to grace our stage and entertain our lovely audiences.
